What are the optimal conditions for pad printing?
The best pad printing environment should maintain a
controlled temperature range of 60 – 77 degrees. During pad printing, the ink
is mixed with a hardener or a solvent. For two component pad printing inks,
both ink and hardener are added to the ink.
The solvent evaporates during the printing process to create
a tacky consistency in the ink. If the printing environment has elevated temperatures,
these will accelerate the rate of evaporation which will result in bad printing
conditions. Therefore, it is important to avoid high temperatures when pad
printing. Additionally, cold temperatures will cause the solvent to have low
evaporation speeds, which again will result in poor printing prints.
