What is the difference between the alcohol wash and water wash plate materials?
There are two common plate materials. These are both laser and photopolymer plates. Photopolymer plates are further broken down into two categories: water wash plates and alcohol wash plates. This refers to how the plates are developed—using either water or alcohol.
Generally, alcohol wash plates are harder and provide easier control over etch depth than water wash plates. Water wash plates use water for etching; they don't require the use of chemicals.
