Pad printing is the ideal printing process for odd-shaped, multidimensional products, e.g., pens, golf balls, etc. Additionally, it is possible to print flat surfaces.
A 3” image is the most typical pad printing image size. However, it is possible to print 5"–7" images. As the size of the image increases, the printing speed also decreases. The larger the image, the slower the printing speed. Additionally, increasing the number of colors will also decrease the printing speed.
With this printing process, it is possible to print on many different materials (substrates). This is possible because of the different types of ink available. Typical substrates include plastics, metals, glass, ceramic, vinyl, rubber, polypropylene, leather, acrylic, cotton, silicone, and more. Although a pad printer is not designed for printing on paper, it can still be used to print on paper products like cubes and napkins.
